The Courtyard Edge

A modern family compound shaped by privacy around a central core.

COMPLETED 2022

Designed as a contemporary family compound, this Culver City home offers a protected oasis for a family of four with two young daughters. Situated on a corner lot next to a park and city schools, the design cleverly balances the need for privacy with a desire for openness. By pushing the built structures to the outer edges of the site, the central courtyard becomes the heart of the home – an inviting, open-air space for family gatherings, play, and poolside relaxation.

Private Connections

The second story becomes a tranquil retreat, offering elevated views of the yard and neighborhood – fostering a quiet connection to the community while preserving a sense of calm and privacy.

Outdoor Connections

The heart of the home, the kitchen, looks out to the beautiful tree-lined park while also opening up to the outdoor dining deck and pool. The kitchen is connected at every turn to the daily happenings of life, both indoor and out.

Personal Spa

Bathed in natural light, the primary bath offers a daily moment of pause – a space for both restoration and quiet reflection. Equal parts retreat and reset, it invites calm with every use.
